Hi all

Last Tuesday Rod Hart was back for his second week with us

We took another at the Blues he had written in which he spent hours to come up with a title and in a moment of pure genius Rod's Blues was born.  Which on paper looks like thirteen bars in length bars 1 -10 are in 4/4 bars 11 & 12 are in ¾ and bar 13 is 2/4   if you add up the beats in bars 11,

12 &13 they equal 8 beats very clever and a challenge to play over.

We went on to play "It's A Raggy Waltz" by Dave Brubeck

Which has a tricky melody line to play and a lot of chord changes to solo over?

Rod gave very good advice on how to approach soloing.

A big thank you to Rod for his encouragement and advice

This Tuesday I am delighted to say we have Mark Bassey with us. A great musician and teacher.

So please come along and join us.

I would like to say that our workshops are really good value for money. Two hours plus of playing and great tuition at £7 & £4 concessions per session and for that you get some the best Jazz musicians/tutors around.

There had been just the odd one or two who feel they should not have to pay the full amount and for some reason not pay at all.  As a co-op we all chip in so to speak so we can enjoy the benefits of learning from the experts.

See you Tuesday.

André
