Hi all
Last Tuesday we had a great time with our tutor Mark Bassey.
We played "West Coast Blues" by Wes Montgomery which is a blues played in ¾ time. This can be heard on the album The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery.
The other tune was the standard "Sweet Sue" which we played as a Bossa Nova which had A B and C sections, not the usual A B A format. The A and B sections consisted of a number of 11-V7- 1, the B section first four bars were descending chromatic chords which progressed to a 11-V7-1. Nice to play it in Latin for a change.
Bassist Terry Pack is with us this coming Tuesday so why not make a special effort to come along and enjoy an evening of music making with us. We are really lucky to get such brilliant tutors to take our workshops and it is an opportunity to go forward and improve one's knowledge and playing.
See you Tuesday.
André
