Hi all
Guitarist Andy Williams took last Tuesday’s workshop.
He took us through Blue Bossa which has some minor 11-V7 changes in it. Andy explained his approach playing over the minor 11-V7. One way was to home in on the 7th chord and use the altered scale notes.
The other tune was “Have You Met Miss Jones” Which has an awkward bridge section to negotiate again Andy emphasized approaching solos by thinking melodically using your ear to guide you and not thinking about scales.
One of the things we get attending the workshops is the variety of ways each tutor approaches improvisation.
Our tutors are all working jazz musicians with a wealth of playing and teaching experience we are very fortunate to have such good teaching and at an extremely reasonable price.
So good attendance is vital to the lifeblood of the co-op so a big thank you to all who attend which enables us to continue.
This coming Week we have Terry Seabrook taking the workshop so it is another one not to be missed
See you Tuesday.
André
