The mission of the Brighton Jazz Co-op is to organise a regular programme of educational jazz improvisation workshops in Brighton, Sussex, UK
Last workshop for 2008 led by Terry Seabrook
Terry's session rocked. He sorted some nice arrangements and a salsa version of Merry Gentlemen made a mundane tune really interesting and a joy to solo over. Terry spelt out the key centres, showed where the 2/3 clave should be placed, on the second beat. I thought he could have done a little more on the chords, major and minor 251s, scales to play when looking for alterations but then he already packed a lot in. Everyone got the chance to have a good blow. It was intersting for the rhythm section as well. Comments?
