Hi All

Last Tuesday Geoff Simkins was our tutor for the evening.

The tune he chose was "Raincheck" by Billy Strayhorn

The music which you would have seen was thirty two bars in form but did not the usual middle eight one would expect.

Geoff encouraged us to use some of the rhythmic elements of the piece in our solos he also discussed the way to play swing quavers which is the backbone of modern jazz with some good demonstrations.

We had a lovely evening and for those of you unable to be there Geoff is with us again on the 29 April.

This Tuesday our tutor is Bassist Nigel Thomas who is a marvellous bass player and teacher.
