Hi All

Mark Bassey was our tutor last Tuesday who kindly stepped in for Simon D'Sousa at very short notice.

We played A Freddie Green composition' Corner Pocket' which had a Count Basie swing feel about it the changes were mainly two, five ones in several keys a really good swinger.

We then moved on to a Gil Evans piece 'Las Vegas Tango'

A sort of minor blues and although we had the dots Mark had us learn it by ear which went well.

The last piece was by Billy Taylor 'I Wish I Knew'

Which was used as the theme for Film critic Barry Normans BBC TV show which ran from 1972 up to 1998?

Which had a gospel feel to it very groovy?

This coming Tuesday we have Sax player Julian Nicholas

As our tutor.

Hope to see you there.

André
