From November BJW will operate from The Verdict in Edward Street. This is a fitting venue for "The Coop" as it is the only owned and dedicated jazz venue in the city running regular gigs of tops bands from around the country. Andy Lavender, the owner, has generously agreed to support BJW using his venue. We will be able to use the house piano, drums and bass amp as well. There will be the opportunity to eat there before the workshop and the range of drinks is excellent and sensibly priced.
A big thank you to Mark and all at The Open House for accommodating us so supportively for all these years. The owners are converting the functions room into offices for their own use which is why we are not able to continue there. I first attended the functions room when it was home to Brighton Folk Club about 30 years ago. The pub was called The Springfield then. End of yet another era.
