Tune for Tuesdays Workshop

Co-opistas

Greg will be running us through that famous standard All Of Me the Tuesday. Dots attached. Reminds me of the Steve Martin film. Great tune though for changes.

I've been listening to the Dave Stapleton Quintet lately and caught them at the Swanage Jazz Festival on the weekend. Fantastic. Blew me away. Some really new composition and firework performances. Check them out on Youtube. A new band "Aquarium" also took the festival by storm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBB_KqDsAt8

Tuesdays BJMC Workshop

We're back at the Open House on Tuesday. Roy Hilton will be leading the session. We have not used Roy before although many will have heard him play (piano) so looking forward to finding out. Don't know what tunes he will be doing yet though.

Jam Session this Tuesday @ The Park View Tavern, Preston Drove

Due to room availability we will be back at the Park Tavern this week for a jam session. Tunes that have been requested include This Masquerade, Carla Bley's Sing Me Softly of the Blues and Recordame. Other possibilities are Wayne's Thang, Little Wing, Footprints, Equinox, Contemplation and One Note Samba. If you have dots for these please bring them along.

In Mark's session last week he talked about the passing diminished chord. This chord is used to move the root note a semitone. I think of diminished chords as being a dominant 7 with a raised root. E.g. Bb dim has the same top three notes as A7, C#,E,G, but Bb for the root rather than A.
