Jazz Workshop Tuesday

Coopistas

Today Greg is playing at the Dome. Martijn Van Galen will be taking
the workshop again on Tuesday. Lots of positive feedback about last
weeks session. He gave us some great practice techniques. I think we
are continuing looking at the great Benny Golson tunes. I have
attached Killer Joe and I Remember Clifford. These are also in
Dropbox. Please print out your own chsrts.

Dropbox users. PLEASE DO NOT DELETE FILES as this deletes them for
everyone, even though they are on your own hard drive. We may need to
use a different system.

There will not be a Coop keyboard on Tuesday so you will need to bring
your own - or sing.

Message from Tessa Lewin

Hi. My clarinet has been stolen (our house was broken into) and I was
wondering if you could let everyone know - on the off chance that it
rocks up somewhere. It's an old wooden Noblet, in
a new Yamaha case, the Mouthpiece is a Vandoren B45, and it's got an
Eddie Daniels (LeBlanc) ligature.

BJW tune and theme

Tomorrow Martijn will be taking us through Whisper Not, attached, a
beautiful Benny Golson tune. He will also be looking at how to
memorise tunes, something we should all be doing but so often don't
bother because it seems too hard.

I have set up a Dropbox folder with all of the charts that we send
out. If you would like to access it I will send out a separate
invitation. You will then need to download Dropbox which is an
internet file storage / sharing system.

session was very well received. We will be at the Open House unless a
football match messes with out art. I'll mail out charts if I get them

URGENT - TONIGHTS WORKSHOP CANCELLED

Apologies but the Park View have just informed us that their brewery
want them to put on the footbal tonight and so we have been cancelled.
I will let you know later what tutors we have for the rest of summer.
If a match does clash with our art we may well have to cancel at short
notice again.

Saturday Dome gigs have recommenced so get down their lunch time and chill.
Due to some sporting event being shown at the Open House this week we
will be having a jam session at The Park View where the hip cats will
be letting it swing!

Saturday Dome Gigs

If anyone wants to get a band together to do a Dome gig in July please
contact Darryl directly and book a slot. There are a couple of dates
available still. Gigs restart Saturday 16 with Pete and Darryl with
Greg and Annie the following week. Gigs normally run 1.00 - 2.00 in
the Foyer with great coffee and cakes. The perfect Saturday
intermission between retail therapy.

Tuesday's BJW session with Kjell Berglund

"We will have a look at -  If I should lose you -  from  Realbook2 (
the  Genius of Wes Montgomery) and  we will then change it into a
version more contempory and with slightly different chords. Hope to

Brighton Jazz Workshop - Jam Session this Tuesday

As this Tuesday is a bank holiday (for some reason) there is a danger
that we will have lower numbers at the workshop so will therefore have
a jam session at The Open House rather than the scheduled tutor. Last
weeks jam session was really superb with some great soloing and lots
of playing for everyone. A good time was had by all.
