14, 21 Oct Angele Veltmeijer - Feedback

Angele ran a couple of excellent sessions for my money. The first week she took us through Sugar and Slow Blues by ear and getting us to memorise the chords. This week we looked at One Note Samba again by ear and memorising the chords. Looked at tri tone substitution as well. I thought it was a really excellent session. She also spent some time with the rhythm section getting the groove right. (First time I have had explained when to use a 2/3 clave and when to use a 3/2). Not a lot of tutors do that properly and it is an essential part of the music. I'm already looking forward to her next sessions.

tutors for you

The tutor for the 25 th of nove and the 2nd of dec. will be Jake Goss. That just leaves the 9th and 16th to fill to take us up to christmas.

Tim

new piano

At a recent committee meeting it was decided to allocate £200 to buying a much needed replacement piano. A piano has now been found and will be coming to the co-op on the 21st.

The good news is the piano hasn't cost us anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Nia Lynn has offered to loan us a piano on a long term basis. So a big thank you to Nia and a sigh of relief from the treasurer .

Nia Lynn Sessions

This was the first time that Nia came to the Co-op. Feedback on her first session was really positive. What about the second session?

Weekend Workshop

Okay. The latest idea is that it will take place in January as that is after the holiday season and can be a bit of a quiet period (apart from my birthday of course). Ideas so far are Mark Lockheart and singer workshop, possibly Nia Lynn or maybe Claire Martin although I suspect she would not be available on a weekend. Create a workshop composition and then perform (Simon D'Souza would be good for this as would Julian Nicholas although both are local). A rhythm section element that looks at different rhythmic styles. Thoughts? Add your comments on the link below.
