Fwd: have you decided what you will do on Tuesday?

Message from Mark who will be taking the workshop on Tuesday. See you there.

In my next session (which is 29th June, in three weeks) I would like to look at Crazy Rhythm, as well as revisiting Sotho Blue and we will of course play through any BLUES homeworks from the group.

Blues

The last two jam sessions have gone really well with about five or six tunes a night being played. Last night Greg led the session and we played some tunes from the New Real Book. Last week Steve ran a session on the blues and the significance of the form to jazz illustrated by four tunes in totally different styles, Clifford Brown's Blue and Brown, Michael Brecker's Nothing Personal, Graham Collier's Down That Road and Courtney Pine's Southern Scandinavian Blues.

a reminder that Tuesday's jam session will be downstairs at the Park View. Bring your Real Books if you have one. We will ensure there are some charts though. If you are thinking of buying a Real Book for jam sessions then it has been agreed that we will mostly work from The New Real Book volume 1 as this had more contemporary tunes in it.

due to some sports tournament that is happening at the moment we will be having a jam session on Tuesday at the Park View Tavern. Bring along your Real Books and any tunes you want to do. In the gaps I will be focusing on the Blues. We will look at the chord progression, why it is so different to other types of tunes and what some important jazz musicians have said about the Blues. We will play some as well.
